Island Peak Climbing – My First Big Mountain Adventure

Island Peak Climbing was one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. I still remember the first time I saw the snow-covered peak shining under the sun. I felt nervous, excited, and proud—all at the same time. Island Peak is 6,189 meters (20,305 feet) high. It is one of the most climbed trekking peaks in Nepal, with over 300 people reaching the top each year. I had never done anything like this before, so it felt like a big dream. I trained for weeks before the trip—morning runs, walking with a backpack, and hiking around hills near my home.

The journey started from Lukla, and slowly we made our way up. The trail passed through small villages, hanging bridges, and high mountain paths. I met kind people, saw yaks carrying loads, and felt the cold wind as we moved higher. Reaching the base camp, I could see the peak right in front of me. That night was hard—I couldn’t sleep much because of the cold and the thought of the climb. But the next morning, with headlamps on and warm clothes, we started climbing. It was not easy. The last part had ropes and ice, and I had to use crampons and a harness. But when I reached the top, I cried happy tears. I looked around and saw big mountains like Lhotse and Ama Dablam. I felt like I was on top of the world.

That gave me hope before my climb. Now, when I look back, it’s not just about reaching the summit. It’s about the whole experience—walking for days, meeting people, facing fear, and still moving forward. Island Peak Climbing showed me how strong I am and how beautiful the mountains can be.
